Activity: Foot intrinsics: basic strengthening



A simple way to begin strengthening the intrinsic muscles of the foot, namely the toe flexors and short arch stabilizers


  • start by placing a small hand towel on the floor, ideally one with low friction initially (ie: wood, tile, etc...)
  • gently place the foot on the towel, with the toes just covering one edge
  • begin gathering up the towel by flexing the toes repetitively
  • repeat as directed
