Activity: Scapular stability: 4-point kneeling

Summary:

A basic scapular stabilization exercise from 4-point kneeling (hands and knees) in conjunction with spinal stabilzation

Description:

  • start in 4-point kneeling (hands and knees), keeping the head, neck and spine in a neutral position
  • lift one arm out in front to 90 degrees, while maintaing steady scapular control, allowing for movement but avoiding bunching the shoulder up to the side of the head
  • hold for up to 5 seconds, and return to the start position
  • repeat as instructed
  • NOTE: for some, the activation of deep abdominal, pelvic and spinal stabilizers may be incorporated, as needed
