Activity: Drop squat

A good eccentric, functional weight-bearing exercise that places additional load on the elsatic (tendinous) aspects of the connective tissue. This exercise should only be done when apropriate, and only after a regular squat exercise has been maste

  • standing, maintaining a neutral spine, release deep hip muscles (think of separating your sit bones)
  • the squat movement should be initiated by the hips, by flexing (bending) and sinking back into them
  • The chest/body may tilt forward slightly, but as a unit, maintaining the neutral position of the entire spine
  • as you come back to the starting position, keep sit bones and low back released
  • once the squat technique is mastered (fluid, consistent, painfree) it can be repeated with a little quickness during the drop phase, "catching yourself" at the bottom of the movement.
  • repeat as instructed
