Activity: Lumbar spine mobility: slump-to-neutral mobilization



A basic exercise for lumbar spine and pelvis mobility where flexion postures need to be avoided.


  • start in 4-point kneeling (hands and knees), keeping the head, neck and spine in a neutral position
  • move between gently slumping or extending the back
  • return to the neutral spine, start position
  • work only in the comfortable range
  • repeat as instructed
  • NOTE: the focus of where along the spine the movement should be coming from may be adjusted as needed
