Activity: One-leg squat

One leg squat to developp proper hip control, untilizing the lateral stabilizers of the hip. This is important for running, especially during heelstrike.

  • engage your spinal stabilizers
  • maintaining a neutral spine, release deep hip muscles (think of separating your sit bones)
  • come down into a one leg squat
  • keep your pelvis level; don’t let the pelvis drop on the non-weight-bearing side
  • drive your hips back to engage the glutes
  • be sure you’re not “gripping” with your hip flexors
