Activity: Standing quad stretch: rectus femoris focus



A quick and simple quadrcieps stretch that requires you to balance on one leg. This variation allows focus on the rectus femoris muscle.


  • standing on one leg, hold onto your other ankle, or onto a towel or belt that is around your ankle
  • keep your spine neutral (no excessive arch in your low back) by activating your abdominals gently
  • pull gently back casing some knee flexion and hip extension (adding hip extension focuses stretch to rectus femoris)
  • you may hold on to something with your other hand if you have difficulty balancing
