Activity: Sub-talar joint: self mobilization



A gentle self-mobilization for the subtalar joint of the ankle


  • sitting with one leg crossed over the other, with the ankle resting on the opposite knee, gently grasp the ankle as shown in the picture
  • imagine the axis of movement roughly as an oblique line that runs from the heel to the front of the ankle joint (as pictured)
  • very gently move the foot from inversion (toes towards the sky) to eversion (toes toward the ground)
