Activity: Posterior gluteus medius: stretch



A basic stretch for the posterior fibers of gluteus medius


    This is a simple and effective stretch for the posterior fibers of gluteus medius, but the pre-requisite is adequate hip and spinal mobility. PLEASE NOTE: the amount of flexion and rotation in the spine may be too much and potentially harmful to some people
  • start in a long-sitting position, legs stretched out in front
  • cross the "stretch" leg over the opposite and place the foot on the floor
  • pull the "stretch-sdie" knee towards the opposite shoulder to feel the stretch in the posterior and lateral aspect of the hip
