Activity: Hip adductor stretch: standing

Summary:

A basic groin (hip adductor muscles) stretch in standing that can be modified to place emphasis on different muscles of th adductor group

Description:

  • standing with the feet spread wide apart, shift your pelvis and torso away from the stretch side
  • keep the spine and pelvis in a neutral position
  • both the width of the stance and the amount of shifting to the side can be adjusted until a comfortable stretch is felt along the inner aspect of the thigh
  • NOTE: turning the stretch foot outwards can place the emphasis on the superficial or anterior adductor muscles, while turning the foot inwards can emphasize the deeper or posterior adductor muscles
