Activity: Wrist: self-traction



A gentle distraction or traction for the carpal (wrist) joints)


  • start with the elbow of the stretch-side resting on a desktop or your lap. Focus on keeping that arm relaxed.
  • with the palm of the hand facing upwards, use the other hand to grasp it as shown in the picture
  • apply a gentle traction force, as if removing a glove
  • This stretch can be done for prolonged (30 sec.) holds or intermittently for a few sec. on and off
